We are currently developing our Nature Play area for our students. It will provide areas for environmental education and indigenous cultural connection.
The aim is to create an educational space that tells the story of the Kaurna people and their association with land and water. The area has meeting places, learning markers, seating for quiet reflection and outdoor classroom opportunities.
As well as adding to the welcoming feel of our campus, our grounds offer students a wide range of locations to relax or play various sports during their lunch breaks, and include age- appropriate play equipment at our campus.
We have our own oval, netball/ basketball court as well as a gymnasium.
Our Saviour has a state of the art computer laboratory with desktop Apple computers.
With such digital technologies at their fingertips, students can have more authority and ownership over their learning, while promoting collaboration between peers and teachers. We also run an iPad program across the school.
The Church acts as an assembly area for many of the functions we have at the school.
It is here that our weekly SHOUT devotions are held, our school assemblies and public performances. On Sundays, once a term we hold a school service in the Church worshipping with the congregation.
Our library centre has an excellent store of books for students. It is also the area where students can come and read during break times.
The centre has soft furnishings which promote an ambience that lends itself to quiet reading and reflection.
Karkendi
Karkendi is a multi-purpose facility which acts as the teaching area for the Arts as well as our Physical Education lessons.
It also includes a dance studio, a designated area for Out of School and Vacation Care as well as a canteen. Students also have the option to use this area during inclement weather.
Karkendi is a Kaurna word which means ‘Laughter’.
The Music Centre
At Our Saviour, we provide an opportunity for every student to enjoy, learn and grow through Music.
Our Centre provides for class performances as well as private tuition. The centre acts as the home for the School choir, the band as well as the string ensemble. The rehearsals for the Musical also take place in this area.
Our Saviour Lutheran School is situated in Aberfoyle Park which is in Adelaide’s southern suburbs, just twenty kilometres from the CBD. The school is located in the Adelaide Hills area in what is known as the City of Onkaparinga.
The area is well-serviced by the Metro transport system. Not far from the school is the main shopping centre (‘the Hub’), with Westfield Marion only 15 minutes away and Brighton beach a 20 minute drive. The suburb is an attractive place for families to live and it caters for everyone, no matter what age.
The Hub bus stop is a 5 minute walk from the school.
